Crochet Stormtrooper Beanie

So, my boyfriend and I have been into Star Wars lately. I thought it would be a cool idea to come up with a Stromtrooper beanie and this is what I came up with.

First things first we need a basic beanie. I used this pattern here. I used the medium sized hat pattern but it ended being a bit too small for my head. I also didn't add tassels to make it look more helmet-y.

For these appliqués they were fit for the hat size I made. If you decide to make a bigger hat you may have to adjust these to fit correctly. I think using a bigger hook should do the trick.

For the eyes, make two

Hook size H

Chain 11, turn
Row 2: SC 10, Ch 1, turn
Row 3: SC 2 together, SC in next six stitches, SC 2 together. Ch 1 and turn
Row 4: SC 2 together, SC in next four stitches, SC 2 together. Ch 1 and turn
Row 5: SC 2 together, SC in next two stitches, SC 2 together, Ch 1 and turn
Row 6: SC 2 together, SC 2 together
Finish off, leave long enough tail to sew the eyes on.

For the black strip for the top of the beanie

For the chin

Finish off, leave tail long enough to sew on.

For the mouth, with gray

Finishing the beanie

Sew the headpiece and eyes to the beanie. For the mouth, fold the piece in half to look like a V. Sew it on to look like the Stormtroopers mouth. With black yarn make lines going down on the mouth. I threaded through the back and wrapped it around the front and did that twice for each line to make it a little thicker. Sew on the chin piece.

That's it!

Here's what it looks like on!

I kind of like these action shots more than the posed ones. I was going to fall off that brick.
