First things first we need a basic beanie. I used this pattern here. I used the medium sized hat pattern but it ended being a bit too small for my head. I also didn't add tassels to make it look more helmet-y.
For these appliqués they were fit for the hat size I made. If you decide to make a bigger hat you may have to adjust these to fit correctly. I think using a bigger hook should do the trick.
For the eyes, make two
Hook size H
Chain 11, turn
Row 2: SC 10, Ch 1, turn
Row 3: SC 2 together, SC in next six stitches, SC 2 together. Ch 1 and turn
Row 4: SC 2 together, SC in next four stitches, SC 2 together. Ch 1 and turn
Row 5: SC 2 together, SC in next two stitches, SC 2 together, Ch 1 and turn
Row 6: SC 2 together, SC 2 together
Finish off, leave long enough tail to sew the eyes on.
For the black strip for the top of the beanie
Hook size H
Ch 31, turn
Row 2: SC second chain from hook, 30, ch 1, turn
Row 3: SC 30
Finish off
For the chin
Hook size I
Ch 6, turn
Row 2: SC 5, Ch 1, turn
Row 3: SC 2 together, SC 1, SC 2 together, ch 1, turn
Row 4: SL stitch, 1 Sc, SL stitch
Finish off, leave tail long enough to sew on.
For the mouth, with gray
Hook size H
Ch 20, turn
Row 2: SC second chain from hook, SC 19
Finish off.
Finishing the beanie
Sew the headpiece and eyes to the beanie. For the mouth, fold the piece in half to look like a V. Sew it on to look like the Stormtroopers mouth. With black yarn make lines going down on the mouth. I threaded through the back and wrapped it around the front and did that twice for each line to make it a little thicker. Sew on the chin piece.
